DISCLAIMER: Important notes about "The One-Hundred Songs of Steve Pulaski" blog series

Beats Executive - Beats by Dre: How I prefer to listen to my music, along with a glass of chocolate milk or RC Cola, on my worn-out brown-leather rocking chair in my living-room or my patio rocking chair in my backyard.

In just one day, my new blog series "The One-Hundred Songs of Steve Pulaski" begins and, until September 8th, 2014, I will be posting one-song per day along with a brief write-up about how the song shaped me as a person or why I think the song deserves considerable recognition. Having already written around sixteen of these write-ups (they're not reviews, so don't get it twisted), I can tell you I'm enjoying writing these much more than I ever imagined. Writing film criticism and about film history will probably be my favorite thing to write about, but these song write-ups have quickly become something I look forward to doing whenever I sit down at my computer.

I think the reason for that is how personal many of these write-ups are, with my many of them resurrecting memories from my childhood and recent years. My ritual for these songs is to listen to the song or watch the music video before proceeding to write the write-up, so the song is fresh in my mind when writing. Many of these songs I haven't heard in a while, but a great deal of them I keep in an immediate playlist on my phone. You can bet that when I get my mom's Honda Accord when I get my driver's license in a few weeks (there will be a whole blog on that hassle too), I can almost assure you that playlist will be making some noise through the speakers in my car.

I decided to make this disclaimer blog to address one big thing about this blog, other than why the aforementioned blog series is being conducted. Here's me addressing a question I've asked every single day since I announced this blog series.

Q: Are the songs going to be ranked? What's number one?
A: NO, NO, NO. The purpose of this blog series is not to rank these songs from favorite to least-favorite or in any way, shape, or form. The order I pick these songs is entirely random, with maybe the more significant songs making up the top ten list (again, take it with a grain of salt). And, in order to find out what song is number one, you'll have to log onto this website on September 8th, 2014.

This is something I cannot stress enough and will probably still be asked upon conducting the blog series. My only other response would be to try and rank your favorite songs in order. I'm not sure it can be done. There's so many variables and, just like why I tell people I don't have a favorite movie, I don't want to feel like I'm putting all other future songs on a pedestal for other songs to live up to.

Again, I hope this blog series is welcomed with half as much love and attention as my film reviews. I've kept the list entirely secret, with little information other than stray hints about what songs are going to be on here. Some of my choices are going to make you nod in affirmation, wince in disgust, raise your eyebrows, or just baffle you to the point where you say, "I gotta hear this song."

There are two goals of this blog series: one, first and foremost, is to reveal a more intimate and personal side of me I want to make sure my friends, fans, readers, and consistent followers understand and grasp. The other reason is to welcome in some love and appreciation for music some of you may've not even paid any mind to whatsoever had I not listed it on this blog series. There's going to be something for everyone on here, and I think what makes this series so interesting is that it's not confined to one, two, three, or even four musical subgenres - there's nearly everything on here.

June 1st, 2014 is just a day away. After this disclaimer, I sincerely hope you are ready.

The blog is live, the project is forthcoming

[Post copied verbatim from my primary blog at http://stevepulaski.blogspot.com]

Starting June 1st, 2014, I will finally be able to begin working on a project I've had brewing in my head since 2011. That project is a comprehensive and detailed account of the one-hundred songs that have shaped me as a person, were there for me when I needed them, affected me in some sort of emotional way, and carried me through the roller-coaster of life. Starting June 1st, carrying all the way to September 8th, 2014, I will publish a blog-a-day concerning one specific song in the laundry-list of ones that have made me who I am today.

Without leaking the list, just be prepared, it's diverse as can be. Everything from soft, ballady country, to true outlaw spirits, hardcore gangsta rap, to thuggish hip-hop, to heavy-metal, to pop, to even sixties classic rock is on the list. There will be bands you probably have never heard of, artists you can't enough of, artists you loathe, songs you want to hear over and over again, songs you never want to hear again, and so forth making up the list.

"The One-Hundred Songs of Steve Pulaski" project commences June 1st, 2014 right here at http://stevepulaskisongs.blogspot.com. Are you ready?
