Song #67: Kenny Loggins - "I'm Alright" (1980)
Caddyshack: Music from the Motion Picture
"I'm alright...I'm alright...I'm alright; just let me be."
Whether
you're hungover, tired, or simply not in the mood for interactions with
people, I find that Kenny Loggins' addicting song "I'm Alright" makes
for a fitting theme song. The song was my theme song sophomore year in
high school, when I started to slowly but surely make a name for myself
in the halls of my high school, but still didn't want to be consistently
bothered by hearing about my strange physical and social attributes.
"I'm Alright" is your quintessential pop/rock song from the eighties, making its claim to fame in the comedy classic Caddyshack,
and boasting everything from an infectious chorus to a damn-honest
attitude about just wanting to be left alone and left to your own work.
Loggins has consistently inspired me, with his presence on the
soundtracks of several successful eighties films, from Footloose to Top Gun,
consistently bringing a wonderful and addicting anthem to the table to
go along with a fun, silly film. "I'm Alright" not only effectively
brings that to life but also provides for a song that can really fit
many peoples' moods throughout a day at work, school, or life in
general.
